Welcome to The Butler’s Pantry, Farm Kitchen and Bar

Passionate about farming and our Sussex produce.

About Us

We are set within the Butler family farm, Heaven Farm. Started by John and Margaret Butler, we are now 4th generation farmers at Heaven Farm; run by their children and grandchildren. The family have been Sussex farmers for over 300 years.

The Butler’s Pantry has been established by Rachael Butler, a local Veterinary Surgeon who was brought up on the family dairy farm, which started her passion for high standards of animal welfare and using local seasonal produce.

Every season in Sussex provides us with constantly fabulous produce, which is shown to its full potential by our Head Chef, Mark Thomas Raffan, who previously held a Michelin star at Gravetye Manor for many years, including as Chef Proprietor.  Mark, who trained at The Waterside and La Gavroche under Albert and Michel Roux, was also the personal chef for His late Majesty, King Hussein bin Talal of Jordan.

Alongside our Head Chef, Mark Thomas Raffan, who shares our passion for sustainable farming in Sussex, we are hoping to create a seasonal Sussex menu that encompasses our ethos and also promotes it to our children. We are obviously huge ambassadors of the British countryside, and this will be evident throughout our menus and events.

Join us at our family farm, with your family and experience the best of Sussex produce that runs alongside our seasonal calendar, as well as the Latchett’s ice cream parlour run by Grant Butler, Rachael’s brother.
